Since its founding in
1831, Mount Auburn embraced all faiths, races, and backgrounds. A series of
essays tell the story of an interconnected community of African American men
and women who chose to be buried at Mount Auburn, including fugitives from
slavery and reformers, lawyers and legislators, athletes and business owners,
musicians and authors. The publication includes a map with locations of the
graves of individuals featured on the African American Heritage Trail.
